Maynard Janecka founded Janecka Insurance Agency and represented the Victoria Local Chapter of Germania Farm Mutual from 1975 through 1986. He also later served on Germania's Board of Directors. He was very active in many civic organizations and was also an avid supporter of youth in athletics, umpiring youth baseball for many years. His life exemplified his personal concern for the welfare of his neighbors and clearly showed how much he valued the support of family and Christian beliefs, especially the virtue of acting charitably on behalf of others.
Maynard was vocal in his belief that academic achievement was fundamental in a student's preparation for life and he was especially inspired by those who encountered adversity and overcame hardship through strong personal effort.
In honor of Maynard’s success and personal ideals, this scholarship was created to recognize and reward students who demonstrate high achievement and exhibit the qualities he most admired.
When selecting the recipients of this scholarship, judges will consider academic achievement; athletic accomplishments; involvement in extra-curricular school activities; and involvement in volunteer organizations, whether civic, scholastic, or church related. To be considered, the selection committee requests a copy of the student’s transcript in addition to their written response to the personal essay prompt.
Award recipients must meet these requirements:
- The student or his/her parent(s) must be members of the Germania Farm Mutual, Local #240, Victoria Chapter, which means you simply be a current policy holder through Germania Farm Mutual. Unfortunately, grandparents or other family relations do not confer eligibility.
- The student must be graduating from high school at the end of the academic year in which they apply.
- The student must have maintained a grade average of 85 or above.
The deadline to submit your application to our office to be considered for the award is 5:00 PM on the last Friday of April. The final decision by the selection committee will be made in June and the recipients will be contacted shortly thereafter. See further instructions in the application, and please direct any questions about the award or selection process to us at (361) 573-4475.
